The menu functions can sometimes be a bit overwhelming and confusing at first. After a little time and messing around (not recommended while driving) I have learned how to get the display to do what I want it to and ajusted the speakers in the car from the stock speakers to upgraded speakers the system sounds incredible! The Sony boasts a 50w x 4 amplifier and from what I can tell it is ALL of that.

The display is LARGE and changes from title of the album to track title to some nifty little characters that scan across from time to time.

This unit also can control the cd-changer AND the MD changer from the SAME unit!!! All the titles and track info also show up from either of the changers.

All in all the SonyES MDX-8500 hits the spot for the mini-disc enthusiast..... and now the bad news (for me that is). They have just released a new MD in-dash player/RECORDER... that's right you can now record form your cd-changer in the car or record a concert that is being broadcast live on radio without you having to be in the car!! Just start the recording and remove the face on the unit and the MD-8500REC will record unitl the disc runs out of space. MORE TOYS MORE TOYS!!!!!
